Map depicting the district of Assiniboia around present-day Southern Manitoba. Shows bodies of water and borders. Memorandum along right margin: "Whereas the Surveys upon which this Map has been drawn are not sufficient to ascertain with precision Whither Latitude 52° does intersect the River called Red or Assiniboyne River it is therefore hereby agreed by and between the within mentioned Governor and Company and Thomas Earl of Selkirk that in case the Waters of Red River shall in more accurate Surveys be found not to extend so far North as Latitude 52° then the West boundary of the Tract of Land intended to be within granted shall be a Line drawn due North & South through the Post upon the said River marked on this Plan Carlton House the words Source of said River being deleted before delivery hereof." Below this note is: "Witness" "Alex. Mundell" "Edwd Robarts" "Alex. Lean Sry" and "Selkirk". Likely printed in 1914 to accompany E. H. Oliver's "The Canadian North-West: Its Early Development and Legislative Records", volume 2, publications of the Canadian Archives No. 9.
