Description
Map depicting part of the Western coastline of North America. Parts of the coastline are not definitively outlined. Encompasses the area between Mount St. Elias in Alaska and Monterey Bay in California. Relief shown by hachures. Shows mountains, ports, capes, rivers, and islands along the North Pacific coast. Shows the route of La Perouse's ships, Boussole and Astrolabe, along the coastline with dates. Note at lower left corner indicates that shaded areas show parts seen by La Perouse, areas marked by a single line are based on Spanish accounts, and areas marked by a double line are based on English accounts. At bottom centre: "Published as the Act directs, Novemr. 1, 1798, by G.G. & J. Robinson, Paternoster Row, London." At bottom right corner: "Neele sculp. Strand" and "No. 16".
